The system needed to provide indoor and outdoor positioning, immediate alerts, and real-time audio to enable accurate and timely incident response.
The solution
Arlanda Express deployed Crystal Alarm across their entire operational workforce. The system delivers safety, flexibility, and ease of use through a powerful combination of hardware, software, and smart integrations:
- Mobile alarms: Staff activate emergency or time-based alarms directly from their work phones.
- Indoor positioning (iBeacon): A custom solution was developed for reliable positioning on underground platforms where GPS is unreliable.
- Crystal Button: A discreet Bluetooth-enabled remote to trigger alarms without using the phone—designed to reduce false alarms.
- GPS tracking: Position data is transmitted with each alarm and continuously updated as the individual moves.
- Audio monitoring: When an alarm is triggered, the phone’s microphone activates, allowing traffic control to assess the situation through live background audio.
- Alarm control software: All alarms are managed from the traffic control center at Arlanda, where staff can view the name, phone number, location, and response plans for each incident.
